Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my bio! My name is Mary and I come to you with over twenty years of clinical experience in psychiatric and addiction treatment. Currently, I serve as a Therapist and the Founding Clinical Ambassador for Hopscotch. Directly following high school, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from SUNY Oneonta, my Master’s Degree in Social Work at SUNY Albany- School of Social Welfare- to become dual-credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-R (LCSW-R) and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York. The majority of my work has been conducted in both inpatient psychiatric treatment and inpatient chemical dependency treatment, primarily with adolescents and families. For several years I have operated a small private psychotherapy practice while also working full-time as an inpatient child/adolescent psychotherapist. My clinical experience is diverse, ranging from work with individuals and groups throughout my professional career in the following areas:
• Depression and Bipolar Disorder
• Psychotic Disorders
• Autism Spectrum Disorders
• Anxiety Disorders
• Behavioral and Discipline Challenges
• ADHD
• Self-Harm Behavior
• Anger and Stress Management
• Trauma and Abuse
• Family and Relationship Issues
• Suicide Assessment and Risk/Reduction
• Group Psychotherapy
• Addiction treatment
• Couple’s Conflict
• Self-image and Self-Esteem Issues
•LGBTQ+
•Grief and Loss
•Adjustment issues
•COVID-19 pandemic related issues
My practice focuses on the mutual development of goals for therapy and provision of ongoing evaluation of the therapeutic process. Services can include individual, couples, and family. I have extensive training and experience in providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dual-focused recovery interventions, trauma-Informed care, Solution Focused Therapy, and Crisis Intervention. Secondary to my many years of experience in the inpatient hospital setting I have gained much knowledge about the use of psychotropic medications. I continue to broaden my knowledge base through continuing education, always striving to further my skill in evidence-based clinical practice. I am particularly concerned with adolescent development and resiliency along with coping with family system issues and childhood trauma- both acute and complex, offering TF-CBT.

“You grow through what you go through.”
Therapy with me looks like: An evaluation session can start a number of ways depending on the preference of the caregiver. I often meet with the caregiver for a bit, with or without the child/teen. The session usually involves discussion about who they are and who I am- interests, hobbies, education, background etc. Assessment includes a number of questions pertaining to mental status, symptom presentation, behavior, stressors, identify traumatic events and direction of therapy goals.
