Therapy with me looks like: Play Therapy: Child will be introduced to the session. "I am Mrs. Melinda. This is a very special time. You can do ALMOST anything that you want to do. I will let you know if you can not do something. You can also say whatevery you want to say." In-person: Child will be able to explore the room and work at their own pace. Virtually: I will do more directing, but child will still be able to explore the virtual roon and work at their own pace. Play Therapy Parenting Sessions: Parents and I will discuss struggles with their child/children and go over skills parents already have. I will work with parents to strengthen skills they already have and/or add to their skills. Homework will be given and progress will be discussed next session. Teen and Adult sessions: I will introduce myself and discuss the stressors that have brought you in. I will discuss the past, present, and solution focused skills to support you. Homework will be given and progress will be discussed next session.
Fun fact: My last name is AWSOME! Iketau pronounced "Eek-a-Tau"("Tau" is just like "POW!" only with a "T") It's an Islander name. Similar to Moana ;-P
My favorite hobbies: I enjoy team sports, crafts, puzzles, anime, card games, board games, scuba diving, reading, riding my motorcycle and jeep, traveling, and walking on trails to name a few.
